Location | Research

One of the points that were mentioned in our most recent tutorial was the location were we will be basing Annie & Dean's house, and where we'll be filming.

We have all decided that we still want to film in Laura's detached, but the establishing exterior shots of the house will be a semi-detached house. The reasoning for filming in a detached house is because the space is a lot bigger. They'll be a lot more choice in terms of what rooms we'll be filming in, and they'll be space to put equipment bags away from the shoot and for actors that don't need to be in shot. Using a detached house will mean they'll be more room for the cameras to move around while still allowing crew to stand around during the shoot.

We are still looking for an exterior for the house, and this is the most important part of the location. The location in which Annie and Dean live in is a small quaint village, so we need to find a house that looks like it is part of a village. The hypothetical village has got a selection of houses, along with shops and other buildings like a village hall and church. We don't necessarily need to find a village to become their village, but the house needs to look village like.

When searching for a house to shot the outside of, it wouldn't be too difficult, however, it needs to be believable that the interior shots and the exterior shots are the same house. Here are some pictures of semi-detached houses that could work well for the exterior shots:

It is Laura's job, as the Producer, to find these locations, but we need to make sure that it looks believable, and the interior and exterior by the door aren't too dissimilar. Worst comes to worst, we can use my house for the exterior shots which is an ordinary end of terrace house.
