As students ourselves, we knew that this would be a good main topic as everyone - especially students - love watching them and sharing them.
After the feedback from Helen, we knew taking a look into why and how viral videos are so popular would be a good way to go. Not only did that give us a good excuse to watch some of our favourite viral videos, it also meant we could add humour to our package.
One of the main things we want to explore is the production of the viral video.
In order to do this we will:
- Talk to a YouTuber
- Make our own videos and try to go viral with them
The two videos we make will have a difference in production value (one will be high production & the other will be low production) so we can ask the audience whether they mainly care about the production value of the video, or whether they just care about the content.
Our Viral Videos
After doing research, we found out that most viral videos include cats, so we decided that the high production video will be a cat video. It will be filmed with a DLSR camera and it will be edited with a few special effects.
We also found that some viral videos are people getting hurt by their friends/family. We agreed that the low production video will contain three friends (Nisserin, Ida and me) throwing things at their friend (Josh), and it will be filmed with an iPhone.
We will upload these videos at the same time, and share them across all social media sites, in order to get them seen as an attempt to go viral.
During our live package, we will get students to watch the video and give their opinion on which video is better.
